‘Tryodasham: Vault Of Darkness - I’ by Ridhima Jain
The Kingdom of Nabhasa, that was once a haven of love, peace, and prosperity, stood as a symbol of happiness and security. However, an unexpected twist of fate threatened to unravel this harmony.
The Dark World attacked Nabhasa. Countless lives were lost, and the kingdom was seized by the dark forces. Bloodshed and malevolence spread through the land, filling it with terror and despair. Yet, in the midst of this darkness, a ray of hope emerged in the form of Prince Ekam, the heir to the throne. But along with this hope, came a prophecy!
What was the prophecy? How was it related to Ekam? Will he restore his kingdom back to power? Will he get to know the secrets of the Dark World? What will happen in his journey? What challenges will he face against the Dark World?
What destiny has written for him, will be answered in time!
We got a chance to speak to the author Ridhima Jian about her book, and here is what she has to say:
1. From Software Engineer to Homemaker to Author, you transitioned from a tech career to writing a fantasy novel. What was the defining moment that made you realize writing “Tryodasham" was something you wanted to write?
As I mentioned in my book, the push—the persuasive sessions—came from my husband, Sourabh. He believed in me, convinced that my passion for writing should finally take the lead. He always told me I had the ability; I just needed to acknowledge it myself. Eventually, I took that step forward, and the writing process began.
2. As a mother of twins, how did you manage to carve out time for writing while balancing family responsibilities, and what strategies helped you stay disciplined in your creative process?
As the mother of twins, life was undoubtedly challenging. But motherhood itself gave me the strength to pursue my passion for writing. I knew time would be a constant challenge, but I had to push myself and take out time for writing.
I drew up a timeline, dividing all my daily activities. When my children went to school, I made sure that during those hours, I devoted my mind entirely to writing. I am glad that I finally achieved what I had always wanted: to write a book.
3. You mentioned having a flair for writing that was long lost due to studies and work. How did it feel to reconnect with that creative side, and what advice would you give to others who want to rediscover a forgotten passion?
I believe we are all capable of achieving anything, once we set our minds to it. That’s exactly what I did. I wove together my creative thoughts, put them into words, and somehow, the Almighty paved the way. My long-standing passion for writing made its presence unmistakably clear—it was time. Time to write, and time to rise.
To everyone out there searching to rediscover their passion: trust in your infinite abilities. You may just surprise yourself with what you’re truly capable of.
4. Without revealing spoilers, can you share what makes the prophecy in “Tryodasham” so compelling, and how does it define Prince Ekam’s journey as the heir of Nabhasa?
The prophecy here itself is the secret and Prince Ekam is connected to it. The prophecy plays a vital role in Ekam’s journey and his fight against the dark world. So, to know what is the prophecy and what makes it so compelling, please grab your copy and find out. You shall have your answers.
5. Creating a fantasy world with its own rules, dark energies, and prophecies is no small feat. What was the most challenging aspect of building this world, and how did you overcome it?
From the moment I knew I would write my first book; there was never any doubt—it would be a fantasy. I wanted to weave every thought, every fragment of imagination into something whole, a living world that could intrigue both me and my readers.
The challenge was exhilarating. To completely create your own imaginative world which had its own identity, rules and powers was not only challenging, but also gave me a push to think harder, beyond my creative abilities. My hope is that the readers would also be transported to these imaginative realms and be a part of it.
6. Were there any authors, books, or stories that inspired you, and how did they shape your approach to storytelling?
I’ve always wanted my writing, my storytelling, to be accessible to readers of all ages. From the start, I never considered shaping it in the style of any other author; I wanted it to be entirely my own. That said, there is one author I deeply admire: Amish. The way he breathes life into his stories, the richness with which he paints each character, and the meticulous detail in every scene are nothing short of phenomenal.
7. What do you hope readers, especially younger ones, take away from "Tryodasham", and how do you envision the story impacting them?
I believe young readers will connect with the concise messages about faith, hope, courage, wisdom, strength, and the belief that even in darkness, a ray of light will always follow. I also sincerely hope they enjoy the read and eagerly await what the next part will bring.
