Time Taken for Self-Publishing a Book
The term self-publishing itself indicates that the time taken for the book to be published depends largely on the ‘self’ or the author. Most authors decide to go for self-publishing because it helps in budgeting the time. While the traditional publication process takes six to twelve months, self-publishing can be doe ideally within one and half months depending upon the length and content of the book.
However, as good as it sounds to have a book published in two weeks, it needs to be understood that these two weeks are generally talking about the last stages of publication. When the entire process of publication starting from the preparation of the rough draft to the final manuscript is considered, the time that is taken for publication automatically increases. An author can choose to do it in two weeks. However, it is not advisable. It is rather recommended to prioritise the quality of the book and not allow any kind of bargains in it.
A book should be well researched and edited. Often, the facts provided in the book turn out to be wrong. In the age of the internet, where every piece of information and their credibility is present at the fingertips of the readers, such mistakes tend to leave a bad impression of the author upon the readers. The deadlines set by the authors for themselves should be realistic and overburdening. Any creative work gets spoilt under unnecessary extra pressure.
At the end of the day, publishing a book must be a journey that one should be able to enjoy and cherish. The author should take their time without rushing on and choose the right publishing company for a smooth and pleasing experience. At White Falcon Publishing, we ideally take 3-9 weeks in publishing a book depending upon the plan chosen by the author for the book.
