Author Interview
1. What inspired you to choose a white Siberian tiger as your main character, especially for a snowy wonderland setting?
I chose tiger as the main character because tigers in general are the first animal kids fall in love with, I wanted to tap into that natural curiosity and fascination of a tiger.
2. Can you walk us through your approach to illustrating the vibrant winter landscapes and ensuring they captivated young readers?
Honestly, the whole series are situations I narrated to my twins during bedtime! Their curiosity and constant questions about the tiger's world sparked the idea to bring this story to life through illustrations. Their curiosity on how the tiger played in the snow, making a snow ball, I had to create a visual world that would captivate them and hopefully, young readers too!
3. Were there any challenges in balancing playful snowy adventures with the theme of family bonding for such young audiences?
Playful adventures with family bonding made it a natural fit. As I started writing the story, that is when I decided to make it a 4 part series book, keeping the young readers in mind. Every story/ adventure has a family bond, impact keeping the readers in mind and the current generation with all their "whys". The challenge was to ensure the story remained simple and relatable for young readers.
4. What moments in this book have touched you most personally?
As a parent and a first time author, the emotions and moments of family connection resonate deeply with me. It goes back to my childhood when my grandmother would make up stories of small things around the house and the awe at which my brother and I would wait every night to listen to how the narration and story unfolds. Seeing the tiger's family bond in this story brought back memories of precious moments with my own.
5. What do you hope readers, including parents and children, take away from those?
I want this series to leave a lasting impression of love, connection, curiosity, adventures of childhood.
