Promotion and Marketing of Books - Book Fairs
When a writer thinks of publishing a book, the first question after finalizing a publisher, that comes to his mind is - how to market my book.
Book Marketing is a very broad term. Multiple aspects of promoting a book come into play.
It ranges from social media promotion, seller advertising, blog articles, book reviews, author interviews, giveaways, bookmarks, supplying books to stores, book launch events, book reading sessions, applying for awards, taking seminars in schools, colleges, press releases, new paper coverage and book fairs.
Book fairs are an essential part of book promotion as they drive Readers to publishers' stalls. The audience who visit the fair are all book lovers and book seekers. Ads, online promotions, press releases target a wider audience out of which only a select percentage would be book lovers. So the effort involved in terms of budget allocated is not directly proportionate to the no. of people reached.
But people visiting book fairs have their intention clear - they are looking for good books at the best deals.
Since 2014, White Falcon Publishing has been participating in the New Delhi World Book Fair at Pragati Maidan.
This fair is the largest book fair held in the South Asian region. With the daily footfall in lakhs, it is a great medium to showcase books. Every year, we endeavor to take the maximum number of titles we can to the book fair. This year we received an overwhelming response from the readers at the fair. Their love for our books reflected through the titles purchased. This response has re-affirmed our faith in our effort towards encouraging and publishing good content and worthy books. We wish to reiterate our vision here – Progressing towards Creative Literacy.
While our peers in the self publishing domain focused on fetching more business by getting more books to be published by them, our focus was on selling our titles to maximize reach. We believe, the more our books reach the right readers, the more we are successful in promoting our books and our authors.
Where our peers charge hefty amounts for participation at the Delhi book fair, we charge a nominal fee, that too from that year’s new authors. As part of our responsibility as a Publisher to promote our books, we are glad to highlight that we participated in the Military Literature Book Fair held at Chandigarh in December, 2019 and are participating in the Chandigarh Book Fair organized by National Book Trust from 1-9 February 2020.
We are glad to give you snippets of this year's book fair held at New Delhi.
