Excerpt from the book
This is a tale between a hanging leaf and the parent branch. Autumn was sweeping the leaves from the branches of the trees. Half of the leaves left were yellow pale coloured rest losing their brightness. Some Branches were already naked and a few others covered by the leaves were trying to save the rest of them as if they didn't want to get naked. Earth soil was trying to maintain its moistness as if they also wanted to pass the nutrients to the trees and their branches so that they can save the leaves. Out of the blues, a leaf hanging to the topmost branch of the tree was still bearing a shiny green colour. In the day time when sunlight brightens it alone used to sparkle green. Birds try to take the place in its shadow to get the comfort of full dozing, demeaning the sunrays.
Autumn time was about to pass, a few days probably 5-10 were left. Now all the leaves of this tree had fallen, remaining was only this one getting all the nutrients. The sunrays had become harsh so all the birds already looked for the empty spaces in the balconies or the verandas.
One day this shiny green leaf started to argue with the branch, “If you would have taken the right care the leaves wouldn’t have fallen”.
“This is the first autumn you are going through but I have seen many passed by so be patient for mere 2-3 days and once again you will see new leaves as your companions,” Branch replied humbly.
“It looks like you are saving yourself by making excuses. In the sarcastic way the leaf replied, Not only you but also the rest of the branches and this fat ugly trunk. It’s only due to me that birds and passers-by are used to appreciating the beauty of this tree.” The voice was so loud that it passed the curse of humiliation through branches, through trunk right to the bottom to earth soil and the roots beneath. Branch still maintained it’s politeness replying you’ll get the companions soon in the form of new leaves so be patient as every part together makes this tree.
